Fellowships
The Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Management at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas offers fellowship positions in Adult Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology, Critical Care Medicine Anesthesiology, Obstetric Anesthesiology, Pain Management, and Pediatric Anesthesiology. Individuals who have successfully completed residency training in anesthesiology from an accredited program are eligible for fellowship positions.  If you would like to apply, please click here for the 2014 - 2015 Academic Year.

Adult Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology Fellowship
The Adult Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology Fellowship at UT Southwestern is a comprehensive 12-month specialized training experience that can be tailored to meet the individual’s training goals. The fellows have access to a variety of clinical settings (University Hospital, private practice, Children’s Medical Center and Veteran’s Affairs Hospital). Caseloads at these institutions exceed 1,500 cases annually and include a wide variety of adult cardiac, heart and lung transplantation, child and adult congenital surgical procedures.  We are currently accepting applications for the 2013-2014 Academic Year.  Click here to find out more about the Adult Cardiothoracic Fellowship.


Critical Care Medicine Anesthesiology Fellowship

The Anesthesiology Critical Care Fellowship program is based in the Surgical and Cardio-thoracic intensive care unit at the Dallas Veteran’s Affairs Hospital and the Surgical/Trauma intensive care unit at Parkland Memorial Hospital. During the first months of training, fellows will be working in these two units. Required rotations and elective rotations will be scheduled during clinical rotations in these ICU’s.  The experience and knowledge gained during the Critical Care Medicine fellowship should provide fellows with the expertise to manage critically ill patients in an intensive care unit. This management includes clinical assessment of the patient, determination of the use of a wide range of diagnostic procedures, interpretation of the collected data, and determination of appropriate therapy.  Click here to find out more about this particular fellowship Click here to find out more about the Critical Care Medicine Anesthesiology Fellowship.

Obstetric Anesthesiology Fellowship
The Obstetric Anesthesiology Fellowship program at UT Southwestern Medical Center is a 12 month ACGME accredited training program devoted to the comprehensive anesthestic management of women during pregnancy and the puerperium. During this training the fellow will be exposed to various aspects of obstetrics anesthesiology, including low and high-risk obstetric cases, interpretation of fetal heart rate monitoring, antepartum fetal testing and high-risk antepartum care, clinical research and neonatology. Pain Medicine Anesthesiology Fellowship
The Pain Medicine Fellowship Program is designed to enable physicians to pursue academic and non-academic careers as specialists in Pain Medicine, certified by the American Board of Medical Specialists and subspecialty certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology. The fellow will be affiliated with the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Management at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. The fellowship is 12 months in duration and includes interventional, interdisciplinary, acute, chronic, and cancer pain management on an inpatient and outpatient basis. Pediatric Anesthesia Fellowship
The UT Southwestern Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship is an ACGME-accredited, one year program.  The fellowship program offers a truly comprehensive clinical and didactic experience. All facets of pediatric anesthesiology is covered, including cardiac, thoracic, neurosurgery, solid organ transplantation, pediatric pain management, orthopedic/spines, ENT/airway surgery, plastics/craniofacial, general pediatric surgery, ophthalmology, trauma, and critical care. Clinical research opportunities and mentorship are also readily available. Our goal is to produce consultant-level pediatric anesthesiologists.
